How are the photo’s scanned?

All photos are hand scanned using the Kodak Photo Scanning System and are scanned to an archival quality DVD rated for 100 years. Since it is 2017, we have many people requesting the photos be made available on the web. By request, we will add your photo project to dropbox for 30 days for you to download and access the digital files in addition to the archival DVD.

Will my photos & slides be returned?

Yes. Everything will be returned with your completed order. Slides will be returned in your original carousels, if provided; or in white, acid-free archival boxes or bags if the slides are loose.

What if I am unsure of my quantities?

If you aren’t sure of how many photos, slides, or feet of film you have, give us a call. We can help you get a rough idea of how much you may have. Once we have received your order, we will give you a call and discuss your material with you, and provide you with an estimate. We are real people and will be fair and up front for all orders.

What Payment Methods do you accept?

We prefer cash or check to eliminate the processing fees however, we can accept Visa, MasterCard, Amex, and Discover through our online checkout. If you have any difficulty, please give us a call; we will be happy to work with you.

Can I make prints from my scanned images?

Yes. We save your images as JPEG files, the most universal format. Just take your disc or USB drive to your local photo lab for prints. You can also email your image files anywhere. Online services such as Snapfish and Shutterfly can produce photos, albums and calendars from your images. Mr. PhotoScanner only scans the photos and does not create prints from your scans.


Can I have my images scanned in order?

Yes. Sort your images in stacks of 25 to 50. Wrap each stack with a rubber band. Use a post-it note to label and number each stack. We’ll keep the stacks in order.


How long is turnaround time?

Normal in-lab turnaround is 5 to 7 working days, a bit longer during the holidays. For large projects over 1000 photos, we will provide you with a specific date based on the schedule.

Will the DVD be compatible with my player?

We create our DVD’s according to industry standards for Video and Data DVD’s. Our DVD’s will play on nearly any stand-alone DVD player. If your DVD player was manufactured after 2001 and reads DVD-R media (the most common type), it’s likely to play the DVD. Some Blu-Ray players will not play any type of recordable media, please consult your player’s owner’s manual to determine compatibility with DVD-R type media. If not, contact us and we will figure out the best way to give you access to your scanned photos.


What is the shelf life of a DVD?

We use special, archival-grade DVD’s with a manufacturer’s projected life of over 100 years. H

Can I submit copyright material?

No. If you do not own the copyright of material submitted, it is illegal to make copies. Any copyrighted material included in your transfer order will not be processed. Any photos or slides with explicit copyright information on them will not be scanned. Media containing obscene or illegal material will not be converted. No refunds are given for copyrighted, obscene, or illegal material sent as part of a purchased transfer package.

How does the pick up service work?

We charge a nominal pick up and delivery service fee for projects under $250.00 and free for those over. Complete the order form and our technician will contact you and coordinate a date and time for pick up and delivery.
